A MEASURE OF SUCCESS...

Ok... Time to Nerd...

I've been going around the house, putting insulation in all of our power sockets and light switches...

Below are some "Before and After" photos... The small temperature display in the upper right of each photo is the reference temperature of the wall, about 6 inches above the socket...

That's right... Before insulation, the socket, (which had a noticeable breeze coming through it), was 48 degrees (Fahrenheit, for all my international readers!!!); 20 full degrees colder than the wall!!!

After installing the insulation, it jumped almost immediately up 15 degrees!!!

"Well, it's just one socket... What good is fixing it up... They're so small..."

Well, considering that each room has about 6 sockets and 2 light switches, most on exterior walls, they really add up!!!

So, I expect the hours worth of work to save us at least $30 a year minimum!!! (And with the major breezes I'm stopping, it's probably twice that!!!) but, even at only $30, it'll take 2 years to pay for itself... Since we plan on living here forever, it's a worthwhile investment in time, money, effort and comfort...

Thank you, Al Gore!!!
